Construction Quality Assurance-Inspection Staff – Northeast Extension PA Turnpike - From Harrisburg, PA to Philadelphia to the NE Extention
Hourly rate varies with Project Contract
Reports to: Construction Services Department Manager
Job Summary:
Construction Quality Assurance-Inspection staff oversee materials conformance on various highway construction projects for verification of compliance with material certifications, workmanship, application, and assembly with regard to applicable plans and specifications. Inspections and audits may include bridge rehabilitations, bridge construction, roadway paving, rebar placement verification, concrete placement, guiderail installation, clearing and grubbing, signage installation, erosion and sedimentation control measures, daily project progress reports, various project office duties which may include auditing, CDS and ECMS proficiency This list may not be all inclusive as duties may change based on project scope details.
Essential Functions:
- Verify project materials compliance with regards to plans and specifications
- Communicate with contractor with regards to project materials operations
- Document daily project operations during project site visits when performing materials sampling or project auditing.
- Verify compliance with project Safety Regulations
Job/Certification Requirements:
- Graduation from High School or equivalent certification or formal training; certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) as a Transportation Engineering Technician – Construction Level 3 or higher; and a minimum of five (5) years of highway inspection experience acceptable to the Commission.
- Hold an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, Design, Construction, or other related field of engineering or engineering technology; and certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) as a Transportation Engineering Technician – Construction Level 3 or higher.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Roadway and bridge construction inspection and auditing
- Interpretation of project plans and specifications
- PennDOT and PA Turnpike Commission construction procedures and project development/documentation process
Skills Requirements:
- Demonstrated organization and planning skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated emotional maturity

Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
