Job Description
Direct Report: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Music
Job Summary: The Church Accompanist is responsible for working with other group instrumentalists/accompanists to provide music during worship or other services on behalf of the Church. This individual must report to the Director of Music.
Salary Range: $32,000
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Work with a group of instrumentalists who provide music during Church services. This may include synthesizer, piano, Hammond Organ, and Rodgers (classical) Organ.
2. Provide solo music during worship or other services.
3. Be available for rehearsal and participation in special services throughout the year.
4. Learn music as assigned by Director of Music
5. Provide music during funeral services as needed.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Candidate should be a proficient pianist and organist (Hammond Organ primarily, but classical organ skills are also necessary), who will accompany during Sunday worship or other services. Candidate must be proficient in playing all musical genres (e.g., hymns, contemporary gospel, traditional gospel, anthems) and must be able to play by ear and be able to read music proficiently and to improvise when needed. This individual should work well with others.
