Job description
· Experience handling litigation such as interviewing witnesses, reviewing electronically stored documents, drafting pleadings and various motions and briefs, conducting and defending depositions, interacting with clients and opposing counsel, and attending court appearances
· Representing clients in arbitrations, negotiations, court hearings, EEOC hearings and trial
· Preparing legal documents such as dispositions, pleadings, briefs and contracts in a timely and accurate manner
· Conducting legal research into past cases and documents
· Providing legal advice to employees by advising them in instances where employers do not comply with the law and providing legal representation in contentious cases
· Negotiating on behalf of clients
· Working in the best interests of clients
· Keeping up to date with new developments in employment legislation
· Advising clients on the best behavior while charges are pending, including confiding in family and friends and social media use
· Strategizing on how to resolve the clients’ cases in a favorable and cost-effective manner
· Enlightening clients about legal options and making them know the possible outcomes or threats
· Developing ideal arguments and representing clients in employment proceedings
· Staying informed about any current legislation
· Building trustworthy relationships with clients
Skills and Qualifications
- Ideal candidates will also have knowledge of federal and state labor & employment laws (e.g., wage and hour, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADEA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and similar state laws).
- Willingness to meet personally with clients
- Ability to handle a high caseload
- Admittance to the bar requirements in the region of jurisdiction
- Experience or expertise in a specific branch of law
