We are looking for highly motivated and skilled Behavior Technicians to join our team at MacArthur High School, District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). Position Overview
The Behavior Technician works in close coordination with the teacher to facilitate educational instructions of students with development disabiliabilities. Therapeudic assistance is provided through skills reinforcement and pre-academic/academic training in accordance with teacher lesson plans, therapist treatment plans and instructions of the job coach or the student’s Individual Educa on Plan (IEP). This position is a safety-sensitive position. As a result, throughout employment this position will be subject to the Employee Mandatory Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.
The Behavior Technician will report to the Principal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Gives students written and verbal assignments.
- Administers prepared student assessment tools.
- Assists professional staff as directed in crisis intervention, value clarifying, reality counseling and other techniques.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or the equivalent and passing paraprofessional exam scores.
- Associate’s Degree or has earned at least 48 college credit hours from an accredited college or university, preferred.
- Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
- Experience working in an office environment.
- Microsoft Office.
- Practical knowledge of educational methods and techniques, such as teaching and programmed learning, to diminish emotional stress, channel energy into acceptable behavior and to promote a sense of achievement and progress in students.

Pay: $33,069.00 - $37,102.00 per year
