This position is responsible for planning distinct types of production jobs into the ERP system. This position will create a Bill of Materials (BOM) and routers from engineering drawing and dispatch production work orders across various work centers while working with the production team. They will compile job packets for each work order and assign priority for released jobs. They will resolve materials issues and shortages and communicate material needs with purchasing or production managers. They will outsource components or processes based on manufacturing constraints. Ensure all pickers and materials transactions are correct. Maintain work orders to meet engineering or customer changes
Essential Job Duties:
- Develop process plan with BOM for each product type or work order.
- Create and release shop work orders for manufactured components and coordinate material flow and shop documents with purchasing and shop floor planners.
- Perform all materials issues for work orders and prepare work orders for closure.
- Review job materials and cost variances and perform reporting summary.
- Review inventory levels and work with purchasing on planned order.
- Must be able to work with engineering and sales departments in new product developments.
- Validate materials issued to the work orders and validate BOM for accuracy.
- Must be able to read engineering prints and create BOM structure in the system.
- Follow up on ECN to update BOMs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing on pull systems for various components.
- Assist manager in maintaining inventory levels, cycle counts, and materials controls to optimize inventory turns.
- Update master production schedule with new work orders while collaborating with sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
- Develop shop work orders and BOMs based on sales or customer specification.
- Plan all make and purchased components for each job and coordinate requirements with purchasing.
SUPPORTING DUTIES:

- Maintains professional hygiene and appearance to promote a positive image of PBL, a professional example to staff, and instill client trust.
- Assist in shipping products when needed.
- Back up receiving and parts sales when required.
- Assist in the implementation of a new manufacturing information system.
- Assist in physical inventories.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, required; and 6 years of experience working in a similar role.
Or
- Four-year college degree in Business, Operations, or Industrial Technology, required; and 2 years of experience working in a similar role.
Certifications and Licenses
- APICS certification is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be familiar with using Enterprise Resource Planning ERP.
- Must be able to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Must be able to manage one’s own time effectively.
- Must be able to work independently and with a team.
- Must be highly organized and driven to meet deadlines.
- Must be dependable in attendance.
- Understands engineering drawings.
- Has a full understanding of Build of Materials, work orders, and schedules.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, job and product costs. And other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for meeting quality standards for services.
- Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
- The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Work Environment
This position typically functions in an office, shop, or manufacturing environment. Due to the nature of this work environment, there is frequent, threatening exposure to health and safety hazards including forklifts and other moving equipment, noise levels associated with moving equipment and heavy machinery, working at heights, extreme temperatures and humidity, and dust, gas, and fumes.
