TRUCK MECHANIC

Job Summary: Candidates must have the ability and knowledge to Troubleshoot, Install, remove, and repair, all components on heavy class 8 trucks and trailers, electrical, hydraulic, power train, drive train, chassis, steering, suspension, DEF, regen and Tier 4 final emissions systems on predominantly Kenworth trucks, side dumps, belly dumps and heavy haul, along with tandem dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks and water trucks. Cat and Cummins engines, Eaton and Allison transmissions. Must be proficient to expert with Cummins INSITE, Cat ET/ SIS and or Texa. Subject and not limited to performing repairs to heavy construction Equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives written or oral instructions from supervisor regarding equipment to be serviced.
- Troubleshoot, replace, install, repair, test and adjust all components on class 8 trucks and trailers. electrical, emissions systems, power train, drive train, suspension, chassis, tires, wheel hubs, brakes, steering, hydraulic systems.
- Welds as needed.
- Inspects, cleans, maintains, and lubricates equipment.
- Participate and complete training in operation of new equipment.
- Possess essential mechanic tools required to perform job functions.
Qualifications
- 2 year minimum in Heavy class 8 truck and trailer repair. Minimum 2 year heavy equipment repair preferred.
- Trade School in Diesel Tech or Apprentice Program.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
- Clean MVR, must hold a valid driver license, CDL preferred by not required.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to work at project sites in all outdoor weather conditions.
- Certified welder preferred but not required.
