Join our dedicated team at UCSF Medical Center as a Sterile Processing Technician. This temporary role spans 3 months and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and safety of our surgical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontamination & Sterilization: Decontaminate, operationally inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment across the medical center.
- Documentation & Training: Maintain thorough documentation related to these duties and assist in training other Sterile Processing Technicians.
- Preparation & Maintenance: Prepare and maintain accurate surgical Case Carts, pulling needed supplies and instruments for next-day cases or emergent cases (E-Cases) using OR preference cards and picklists.
- Equipment Management: Operate and maintain sterilization and decontamination equipment and related computer systems.
- Instrument Assembly: Assemble and package OR, clinic, endoscopic, and house instrument sets. Identify, inspect, and assemble specialty instruments and various power equipment, following manufacturers' guidelines and professional standards.
- Quality Assurance: Perform operational checks on instrumentation for functionality, sterility, and cleanliness. Utilize the SPD Information system appropriately and adhere to Medical Center and departmental policies.
- Coordination & Communication: Coordinate with operating room staff to ensure proper supplies are delivered. Notify appropriate personnel of inventory or supply shortages and maintain sterile inventory through par-level maintenance, stock rotation, and quality assurance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate sterilization records, select appropriate sterilization methods, verify sterilization parameters, and package sterilizer loads. Keep documentation related to processed items, quality assurance, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain timely and efficient process flows through communication with other departments and sterile processing technicians. Serve as a resource for SPD Techs, including task orientation and process flow.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $34.43 - $42.84 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
