Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Mechanic to join our team. The Forklift Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a variety of forklifts and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to identify any potential problems or safety hazards.
- Interpret technical manuals and diagrams to guide repairs and maintenance procedures.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately diagnose and resolve issues.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain repair recommendations and provide estimates for services.
- Complete service and repair records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the shop and on job sites.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on industry trends and technology advancements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical training program in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a forklift mechanic or similar role, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
