Geode is looking for a highly motivated Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to help drive our business forward. We are seeking a skilled financial specialist to process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.
Responsibilities:
- Completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
- Maintaining historical records of all vendor payment information, required tax forms, invoices, approvals and payments and related invoice tracking schedules.
- Reviewing and agreeing invoice components to appropriate documentation (contracts, agreements, order forms) prior to payment. Obtaining approval for invoice payment from Geode personnel when necessary.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with standard accounts payable processes (W-9s, Mass sales and use tax applicability, confirmation of payment information for payments made by wire, etc.)
- Assisting with month-end accounting close process by reviewing monthly AP report for correct general ledger account coding, proposing reclasses as necessary, and preparing schedule of monthly accruals.
- Responding to vendor inquiries, monitoring status of invoices and payments, resolving any delays in processing or payment, and working with our third-party invoice and payment provider.
- Identifying potential process improvements and streamlining opportunities for AP process.
Requirements and skills:
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Solid understanding of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, prior experience with Excel spreadsheets required.
- Must embrace and be able to employ the use of technology in the performance of the job.
- Data entry skills, math skills, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- High level of integrity, professionalism
- Strong problem-solving skills and communication skills.
- Experience with Ariba or other external invoice processing provider preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
