Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Residential Construction Purchasing Manager to lead the purchasing team. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the purchasing process, from sourcing materials to negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships by using Key Performance Indicators that align with corporate goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record of driving cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor purchasing staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance.
- Identify and source new suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate contracts and pricing terms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, land, sales, and finance, to ensure alignment on project requirements and timelines.
- Manage the procurement process from requisition to receipt of goods, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project scopes and schedules.
- Monitor market trends and economic factors affecting material costs, and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Analyze supplier performance and develop improvement plans to address quality, delivery, or cost issues.
- Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, contracts, and supplier information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the homebuilding or construction industry.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts, drive cost savings, and manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in G Suite and purchasing software/systems.
