Synthomer has an immediate opening for an Area Manager at the Jefferson Hills Site located in West Elizabeth, PA. The selected candidate will be responsible to ensure the safe, efficient and effective production of hydrocarbon resins. This requires overall coordination of production, development of direct reports, continuous improvement in production, capital investment, supporting a strong safety culture, quality assurance, coaching & development and collaborating with Synthomer support groups.
Responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Provide managerial oversight and technical support to the production area.
- Identify and implement process improvement and cost optimization efforts.
- Identify and Support Capital project needs.
- Analytical problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet plant goals. Ensure that department members are properly led, trained, and motivated to meet the goals.
- Responsible for safe and efficient operations, optimizing plant reliability/asset utilization/operational sustainability, and cost control.
- Ensure that production plans are executed in terms of quantity, timing and quality to meet customer demands
- Coordinate with business partners to develop, communicate and implement business plans to meet short and long-term business needs.
- Ensure roles and responsibilities are understood by all unit employees and that all SHE requirements and projects are implemented. Additionally, ensure that all SHE incidents are reported in a timely manner, investigated and corrective action is taken in order to continuously improve the SHE process.
- Ensure that employees understand and comply with all SHE regulations, in addition to unit and plant procedures, and corporate guidelines.
- Plan and implement systems/programs to preserve capital assets and effectively manage working capital.
- Provide leadership that drives to set standards and expectations for operations that promotes teamwork, trust, ownership, excellence, creativity, innovation, and growth.
- Coordinates manufacturing initiatives to continuously improve the plant performance in the areas of SHE, Quality, Productivity and Cost Effectiveness.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
- Five or more years production experience with two or more years operations supervision experience.
- Analytical problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to promote a strong safety culture.
- Strong team leadership skills to lead, direct, and develop personnel.
- Advanced analytical, statistical, and reasoning skills. Able to quickly analyze and conclude on complex data and risks.
- Proven success at building relationships with customers and within the company.
- Significant experience in using lean and six sigma practices and principles.
- Ability to present/communicate to persons at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership and growth potential to advanced levels within the organization.
