POSITION SUMMARY
The pipe layer position is responsible for performing various duties on our private and public works projects. Responsible for leading installation process of all types of sewer, water, fire, storm drain and dry utilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to install Water (C-900, ductile iron, CMLC), Sewer (Clay, PVC), Storm Drain (RCP, HDPE, SDR35), Dry Utility Duct Systems (PVC)
- Able to lay out install water services, fire hydrants, detector checks, pipe connections, etc.
- Align and position pipes.
- Assist in locating existing utilities; assist in tapping/tie-in to existing water mains, and manholes
- Pre-assemble pipe fittings for water main and force main installation in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Checks slopes for conformance to requirements, using instruments such as lasers and grade rod.
- Able to calculate and set up laser to keep grade and set pipe grades.
- Ability to read and understands survey grade stakes.
- Ability to Read and understand blueprints related to all above and below ground utilities; as well as local standard drawings
- Connects pipe pieces and seal joints.
- Cover pipe with earth or other materials.
- Cut pipes to required lengths; install fittings and valves, etc
- Levels trench bases, using machinery or hand tools.
- Able to set shoring in accordance with OSHA safe practices.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Other assigned duties.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years work experience
- Knowledge of pipe laying method, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of pipe laying methods, practices and procedures for water, sewer and storm drain systems.
- Able to dig trenches to locate utilities by hand.
- Ability to handle fit, and install drainage, sewer, water and associated appurtenances.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Work well with others. (Bi-Lingual is a plus)
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, dedication
- Ability to show up on time at the job site
- Reliable transportation to be able to commute to various sites in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles
- Must pass drug screen.
- Legally eligible to work in the US
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
There is a physical demand that must be met by employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, talking,
- Pushing and pulling of heavy objects regularly.
- Able to work in all weather conditions, the heat, dry, dirty and dusty conditions.
- Able to lift or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.)

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.75 - $36.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
