Psychiatric Technician
Global Service Resources is looking for a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) for a state correctional facility in Soledad, CA for Salinas Valley State Prison- Psychiatric Program.
Pay: $56 to $58 /hr on W2
Schedule: 1st & 2nd shifts available
- 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (AM Shift)
- 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (PM Shift)
"Must be open to work on weekends. There are no M-F schedules available."
Contract: 6 months with a high chance of extension or permanent hire.
Requirements:
- 12 full months of continuous experience as an LPT within the last 3 years.
- Must have a valid license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technicians.
- Must have a BLS (Only accepting BLS from American Heart Association, not to be confused with Red Cross)
- Must be able to pass extensive background check and drug test
- Must have all immunizations, physical, TB tests up to date. Must be willing to update it within 8 days of offer.
- Must be punctual and have good attendance. Poor attendance will not be tolerated.
Duties Include:
a. Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth;
b. Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patient /youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness;
c. Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure;
d. Work with other disciplines as part of Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth;
e. Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth;
f. Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth;
g. Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes;
h. Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments;
i. Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed;
j. Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required by the CDCR/CCHCS;
k. Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patient/youth.
Once interviewed, the onboarding process may take 2 to 4 weeks. Since this is a government job, it will have a rigorous hiring and on-boarding process. References will be requested. Copies of personal documents will be required in order to be submitted.
Please note that sine this is a registry position, you will not receive the same benefits as a direct state employee. However, you will be able to sign up for Kaiser healthcare and Delta dental after 90 days of employment. You will also get 3 paid sick days after 90 days of employment.
