Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the physicians with patient care through the entire course of the patient's experience. Responsible for maintaining an efficient patient workflow and working with the office team in all aspects of the practice. May oversee LVNs as necessary.
Primary Duties (Surgery Center):
- Educate patients on pre-operative instructions and procedural expectations prior to procedures
- Complete a comprehensive intake of each procedure patient, including informed consent, labs, vitals, and preparation for the procedure
- Administer conscious sedation during procedures and monitor patient
- Perform circulating duties including pulling intra-procedure supplies
- Hand off patients post-procedurally to recovery team
- Recover patients as needed, including regular surgical site checks, vitals, and thorough monitoring
- Prepare patients for discharge including education of patients and caregivers on postoperative care
- Coordinate care with patients' complete care team, including patients' primary care physicians, specialists, home health agencies, pharmacies, etc.
- Assist with ongoing process improvement and compliance with regulatory and certification standards
- Complete all patient care documentation as needed
Secondary Duties As Needed (Outpatient Clinic):
- Triage patients during clinic including obtaining medical history, reason for visit, medications, and changes since previous visit
- Prepare patients to be seen by the physician and assist the physician as needed during the visit or procedure
- Reset exam rooms and procedure rooms between patients
- Perform minor medical procedures such as staple removal and dressing changes
- Educate patients with extensive detail regarding office visit expectations, pre- and post-procedure care, pre- and post-operative care, and follow-up care
- Educate patients with extensive detail regarding procedures performed in the office or in the hospital
- Triage all patients and callers with all medical questions, consulting with the physician as necessary
- Schedule procedures and surgeries within the office, surgery centers, and hospitals as necessary
- Maintain a par inventory of all clinical and surgical supplies necessary to run the clinic and perform procedures and surgeries
Additional Duties:
- Additional duties may include any and all tasks related to medical office operations, including but not limited to answering phones, providing information, scheduling patients, phone reminders and callbacks, check-in and check-out procedures, completion of paperwork with patients, verification of insurance benefits, collection of copays and deductibles, filing of insurance claims, follow up of claims and appeals, and maintaining a professional office environment at all times.

Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
