REPORTS TO: Executive Director
JOB SUMMARY: The Development Director is responsible for orchestrating a comprehensive fundraising program that aligns with the Symphony's mission and financial objectives. Collaborating closely with the Executive Director and Symphony Staff, the Development Director will design and implement a robust, multi-faceted fundraising strategy encompassing annual giving, corporate and individual sponsorships, capital campaigns, endowment growth, planned giving initiatives, and engaging fundraising events.
The successful candidate will be a skilled relationship builder, adept at cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and government agencies. They will possess exceptional communication and grant writing abilities, a proven track record of securing significant funding, and a deep commitment to advancing the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan that maximizes revenue generation across diverse channels.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders.
- Grant Writing & Research: Secure funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporations through compelling grant proposals and proactive research.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Symphony Staff to establish and implement effective fundraising policies and procedures and to support the organization's overall success.
- Data & Analytics: Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to record and track fundraising efforts and make data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize plans. Establish disclosures within IRS guidelines of donor benefits; monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
- Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest professionalism and ethical conduct standards in all fundraising activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive fundraising experience in the arts or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grants.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in fundraising software and donor database management.

Salary and benefits: Salary ranges from $45,000 to $60,000 annually, depending on experience.
