Hospice Volunteers: They add the extras that patients and families can use when dealing with end-of-life issues. Historically, that means providing companionship to the patient (or whomever needs it, really) and respite for family caregivers, so they can have a few hours to themselves. However, as a Hospice Volunteer, you can share your skills, talents and experiences, in conjunction with the care we provide. What do I mean? Well, if you sing, it's okay to sing with the patients! If you know Reiki, or Aroma Therapy, that would be nice to offer. If you're a Massage Therapist, or a Beautician/Barber, donating those skills would be amazing! But the best thing to share is... YOU! Being willing to visit, and bearing witness to their situation, allowing them to vent, or, simply, to not be alone, is a gift that is greatly appreciated.
If you have time to give, please consider volunteering with us.
