The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, under the direction of the Executive Director, plans, organizes, and directs the Educator Support aspects of the Collaborative, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development, grant-writing, job-alike groups, and educator evaluation, in coordination with the other directors, supervisors, and Collaborative-wide committees.Essential Job Functions: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: 1.Plans, administers, and evaluates a comprehensive, year-long, professional development program that promotes the educational goals and objectives of the LPVEC.2.Works with directors, teachers, and other school personnel to monitor and comply with changes in MA DESE teacher licensure.3.Informs administrators, teachers, and other school personnel of relevant workshops, conferences, meetings, and professional development opportunities.4.Identifies professional development needs of educators in the region; plans, organizes, and directs multi- district workshops, institutes, and other programs in response to, and in partnership with, member districts.5.Identifies professional development needs of LPVEC staff and develops processes to meet those needs, in collaboration with LPVEC education program directors.6.Assists LPVEC program directors implement strategies for continuous improvement of programs, teaching and evaluation quality.7.Attends professional development that provides understanding of local, national and global educational research and trends to gather resources for implementation of best practices in education.CURRICULUM: 8.Plans, organizes, and directs the program for culturally responsive instruction and curriculum of the Collaborative in coordination with the Executive Director, principals, directors, department/subject area coordinators, and LPVEC committees.9.Leads professional learning communities for curriculum directors and instructional coaches from seven (7) member districts and other area districts, including monthly meetings to discuss common areas of need and identify potential collaborative projects, and upcoming Statewide initiatives.GRANTS: 10.Identifies funding opportunities to support all LPVEC departments and multi-district initiatives to develop and submit effective proposals.11.Works with appropriate staff to develop and submit effective funding proposals for competitive and allocation grants as well as department-assigned grant managers to ensure grant compliance.12.Uploads and submits grants into cloud-based systems including Ed Grants and GEM$. ASSESSMENT: 13.Supports LPVEC program directors to ensure that all education programs have clear scope and sequence and collaborates with sending-districts for credit-granting and graduation requirements.14.Oversees the administration of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) and WIDA Access Assessments; compiles state and local reports on testing and assessment; promotes valid and uniform teacher testing of students; and supports staff as they develop and implement school-wide internal assessments, ACCESS, MCAS Portfolios and MCAS Alts.OTHER: 15.Keeps abreast of research and developments in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and promotes collaboration in these areas with educational leaders at the local, regional, and state levels.16.Maintains professional relationships with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and higher education personnel regarding state and federal initiatives and high-quality information for local educators.17.Reviews LPVEC policies governing curriculum, instruction, and assessment and recommends revisions or development of appropriate new policies for review by the Executive Director and adoption by the Board.18.Manages Educator Evaluation software (TeachPoint), designs, revises and/or updates evaluation forms, and ensures evaluator adherence to deadlines.19.Develops and provides evaluator training that aligns with DESEs growth model cycle of evaluation.20.Provides oversite, development and training for the educator induction and mentoring program.21.Knowledge of Title IX regulations in order to serve as Title IX Coordinator for student complaints and act as an alternative Investigator when a conflict arises for employee complaints.22.Knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulations.23.Ability to problem-solve issues involving DESE and other state and federal agencies.24.Ability to effectively communicate with students and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.25.Ability to relate to and work with a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to: administrators, teachers, other school staff members, parents/guardians/caregivers, students, visitors, and the community.26.Ability to engage and contribute to senior management-level discussions (Executive Team Meetings) concerning policy, procedures, and guidance of the Collaborative.27.Perform any other duties as required by the Executive DirectorRequired Education1.Leadership experience in curriculum, assessment, staff development, group facilitation, and using data to improve instruction.2.Successful grant proposal, partnership development, and program management and evaluation experience.3.Knowledge of Massachusetts education system, including curriculum frameworks, assessment system(s), licensure, educator evaluation, Tiered Systems of Support, social/emotional development, restorative practices, trauma informed teaching, and English Language Learner aspects.
