Working Shop Foreman

Job Overview:
This is an insulation/fabrication shop position. Travel will generally not be required.
The role of a Foreman is to provide leadership, direction and supervision of insulators/fabricators while working side by side with them; to provide coordination in order that insulators/fabricators work in a safe and productive manner, and to evaluate, monitor and report on work progression.
Job description
This role is responsible for leading and arranging the shop/yard activities including the loading of finished goods to the trucks and routes. Ensures the team members in the group follow all the Health & Safety rules, regulations, and initiatives in the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
- Follows Safety Guideline and procedures set for this role.
- Does not operate any equipment, machinery, or tools if he/she has not been trained to operate.
- Follows the production/batch plan according to the daily plan.
- Communicates and escalates equipment failure or malfunction to management immediately.
- Leads the team effectively by mentoring and training them to accomplish business goals.
- Drives accountability with the assigned team (s) by modeling behavior and following the company values.
- Follows the daily delivery and supply chain plan and allocates the resources to obtain the delivery plan in a safe and efficient manner.
- Manages and plans labor resources to run the department (s) effectively.
- Approves daily and weekly labor reports and timesheets for the team members.
- Reports unsafe conditions to management.
- Partners with management in addressing human capital and employment relations issues.
- Will be the liaison between the insulation shop, fabrication shop, and office communicating plans and needs daily requiring both written and verbal communication skills.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, instructions, and other documentation to plan work activities.
- Moves and directs materials, labor and equipment to work on projects to meet delivery schedules and short-range goals.
- Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
- Use of forklifts and small hand tools are a must.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
- Maintain and monitor company specific HSE plans, ensuring awareness and compliance is asserted.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the mechanical insulation field.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
- Performs other duties assigned.

EDUCATION
2 years college (preferred)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum two years of experience in a role as a Department Lead or Supervisor
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and team members.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have the ability to be qualified by Tricon Piping Systems, Inc. to Operate all Powered Industrial Trucks involved in Yard duties.
Must have valid NYS Drivers’ License

- The Shop/Yard Foreman frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The Shop/Yard Foreman is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The Shop/Yard Foreman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- The Shop/Yard Foreman must frequently bend low and/or reach high, push and/or pull up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Shop/Yard Foreman must be able to wear Hard Hat/Safety Glasses and all other required Safety Apparel.
- Shop/Yard Foreman must be able to wear hearing protection as well as respiratory protection as required.
- Shop/Yard Foreman must be able to work in High Heat/Cold environments for prolonged periods of time.
- Shop/Yard Foreman must be able to work near others and in tight quarters at times. Shop/Yard Foreman Member must be able to work in low light and high light conditions, (Day Time/Nighttime).
- Shop/Yard Foreman will likely be required to operate forklifts after being qualified to operate by Tricon Piping Systems, Inc. for the specific machinery required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work independently and with and around others. There is frequent verbal and face-to-face contact. The employee is frequently required to be available for extended hours. This is a labor-intensive manufacturing job in a construction like environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to read, write, and interpret advanced materials; work under significant time constraints; apply memorization, analysis, apply perception/comprehension skills, spontaneous thought, judgment, and manage time in completing assignments. The employee is required to use decision-making skills, to articulate ideas, to handle conflict situations, to apply intermediate math skills, and to make decisions based on department and organizational goals. This position includes clerical work. The duties include communication and relationships with employees, supervisors, associate managers, executive staff, and the public.
