Lake Sara Marina is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our service team as a marine technician/technician in training. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of mechanics and electrical systems, as well as good people skills & time management skills. During our "slow" season, candidates should be able to work Monday-Friday, 8AM to 5PM and every other Saturday, 8AM to 12PM. During our busy season, our shop hours are Monday-Friday 6AM to 5PM. We are willing to train the right candidate.
We service Mercury/Mercruiser, Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude/Johnson, Honda, Indmar, Monsoon, Minn Kota & Garmin.
Principle duties and responsibilities –
- Diagnose & repair mechanical and electrical issues on boats, engines and trailers
- Plan work procedures using charts & technical manuals
- Maintain all marina equipment and grounds
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to engine tune-ups, oil changes, winterizing, etc.
- Gain experience in gas engines – outboards, inboards, I/Os
- Conduct lake tests to ensure proper functionality after repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, time involved, and parts used
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment on an as-needed basis
- Troubleshoot & repair AC/DC circuits
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Advise customers on recommended repairs and maintenance procedures in line with manufacturers' specifications.

Job specifications –
- 1-2 years in similar experience in similar fields preferred
- Advanced working knowledge of marine engines preferred
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willing to participate in ongoing education
- Must exhibit professionalism & self-disciple in all areas, as well as good people skills & communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Preferred to have own tools
- Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills are a must
- Physical stamina is a must - be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively & work in various weather conditions
- Physical and drug screen prior to employment
Starting pay between $18-20/per hour, depending on experience.
