Position Summary: The Grants Associate assists in the development and writing of public and private grant proposals. Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and submitting grant applications in cooperation with program management, researching funding sources, analyzing their requirements, and determining feasibility and benefit as a funding source for existing or future services; liaising with funding sources; work with program staff to determine outcome and evaluation measures, assisting with contract compliance; compiling budgets, statistical, and information data; and organizing filing and maintaining documents, correspondence, etc.
Grant Liaison & Grant Development:
- Liaison with funding sources, current and potential, to inform, advocate, clarify needs, acquire technical assistance, follow up on applications, etc.
- Represent agency by making presentations, attending meetings, providing facility/program tours, etc.
- Research funding sources, public and private, analyze their requirements, and determine their feasibility and benefit as a funding source for existing or future services.
- Review literature and develop proposals for funding potential and grant applications in cooperation with Program leadership.
- Perform periodic evaluations of program activities to determine additional funding needs, etc. as directed.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with development team to discuss funding needs and opportunities.
Grant Writing:
· Coordinate with all levels of staff to clarify funding needs and prepare proposals.
· Prepare and submit grant applications according to required format and schedules, as directed by supervisor.
· Compile statistical and informational data for use in proposals as directed.
· Organize, file and maintain documents, correspondance, etc.
Grant Reporting:
· Assist with grant reporting.
· Monitor documents, grant workflow processes, forms, templates, reports and data to assure full compliance with grants requirements.
· Work with Director of Programs for data quality.
· Ensure grant deadlines are met.

Minimum Education and Experience: BA in related field or six years related experience writing grants or proposals in a non-profit human services agency.
Preferred Education and Experience: BA in related field with twelve (12) units in Public Administration with two (2) years non-profit development; two years grant-writing; HUD proposal writing experience with successful awards; familiarity with the Coachella Valley and a working knowledge of Martha’s Village & Kitchen programs and services a plus.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, governmental regulations and financial reports. Ability to write grants, reports, and business correspondence that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public. Ability to edit without computer assistance.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually low with a low level of activity.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
