With a deep knowledge of the various bond types including surety, the right person to soar in this role will thoroughly understand the business of bonds, the discipline of business development and the principles and practices of construction claims administration. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating, overseeing and monitoring surety claims, implementing claims control processes, and providing exceptional service to our clients. Additionally, you will play a vital role in growing our department and team by fostering relationships, pursuing business development opportunities, and expanding our client base.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate, oversee and monitor Surety claims ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Develop and implement an effective claims control process to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports, demonstrating your proven ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
- Assist in the recruitment of technical personnel.
- Act as subject matter expert and go-to resource for clients regarding Surety, including providing litigation support and expert testimony.
- Represent the company at industry events, nurturing relationships with existing clients, and actively engaging with prospects.
- Interact directly with clients, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities to serve existing clients, onboard new clients, and spearhead business development initiatives to drive department growth.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years' combined experience in claims investigation and/or legal services, with previous leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Law degree preferred.
- Insurance adjuster license preferred (or willingness to become licensed)
- Proficiency in handling contract and commercial surety bond claims. Experience with and understanding of construction a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients.
- Ability to establish yourself as a trusted and influential consultant to clients through mutual respect and diligent service.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to identify and pursue new opportunities for department and team growth.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel.
