Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and passionate High School Math Teacher to join our team at the Mohammed Schools of Atlanta. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching mathematics to students in grades 9-12, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and fostering a love of mathematics in their students.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
· Use the Qur'an and other resources to plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
· Help establish an Islamic culture at the Mohammed Schools.
· Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests by established procedures.
· Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
· Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
· Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
· Maintain discipline by the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
· Provide appropriate feedback on work.
· Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
· Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development.
· Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, school policies, and regulations.
· Prepare required reports on students and activities.
· Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
· Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
· Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
· Prepare the classroom for class activities.
· Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
· Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
· Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
· Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
· Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain parental information when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails.
· Participate in appropriate professional activities.
· Manage at least one Mohammed Schools program or activity.
· Participate in extracurricular activities such as social, sporting, clubs, and student organizations as directed.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirement and Qualifications:
· B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
· Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field
· Valid teaching certification or license
· Meet professional teacher education requirements of school and state.
· Proven experience teaching mathematics at the high school level
· Strong knowledge of mathematics curriculum and pedagogy
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
· State certification in teaching in appropriate subject areas.
· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
· Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
· Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
Physical Requirement:
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment; reach with hands and occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.
