The Specialty Medical Assistant Float works as part of a health care team within a procedural specialty area by assisting the physician in providing high quality patient care in a professional, efficient and safe manner. The Medical Assistant will also provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm (hours will vary).
This role floats to multiple locations in Westchester County
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
OFFICE VISITS:
- Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into exam room
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height, as needed
- Assist patient and physician throughout the visit
- Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately
- Maintains clean patient exam rooms
- Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and dispose of contaminated supplies, as needed
- Communicates delays effectively when necessary
MISCELLANEOUS:
- Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and answering telephones
- Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels
CHARTING:
- Enters patient information into the computer accurately
- Manages the physician’s desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner
ADVANCED SKILLS:
- Schedules procedures
- Assist with cervical and epidural injections
- Manages c-arm during procedures
- Assists with radiofrequency procedures
- Manages drug screenings
- Initiates patient contracts for compliance
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- High school diploma
- MA certificate or equivalent experience
Performance Standards for Specialty Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Medical office experience preferred
- Must be able to multitask in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Phlebotomy certification and experience is a plus
- Demonstrates positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
Pay Range $19/hr to $25/hr
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position
