We are currently looking for a talented Sushi Chef to join our Midtown location. We are looking to hire a skilled chef with prior experience serving omakase.
Duties:
- Prepare various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Inspect the quality of ingredients used to prepare sushi dishes and inform the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate food orders and ensure timely delivery
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Assist in menu planning and development of new sushi dishes
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and special requests
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef
- Prior experience serving omakase
- In-depth knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and presentation
- Strong knife skills and ability to handle kitchen equipment with precision
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions and ability to accommodate special requests
- Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient workflow during busy periods
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the culinary field
- Ability to interact with customers and create a fun dining experience
