Apparel Product Developer

This is a full-time, in-office (Torrance), salaried position, starting at $70,000 - $80,000 depending on experience. Buttercloth offers benefits including; 401k, health & dental, paid vacation and paid holidays, and a professional, rewarding working environment.
How You Will Make a Difference
- You’ll develop new garments/trims across all men’s product categories (shirts, polo’s, t-shirts, shorts, pants, denim, outerwear, sweaters, underwear, etc.).
- You will develop and maintain tech-packs in Illustrator & Excel.
- You’ll proactively manage the development calendar, collaborating with our Production Coordinator to provide transparent status on fabric, trim and garment samples.
- You will organize and maintain a library of samples.
- You’ll evaluate samples in collaboration with our designers prior to fittings.
- You will communicate design aesthetics and fit sample status with vendors.
- You will monitor and track the samples, trims, fabrics and lab dip development approvals to and from the factories, establish internal WIP, and conduct weekly status reports.
- You’ll uphold Buttercloth’s quality & testing standards of materials and finished garments.
- You will own the development process from conceptual design, through production stage.
- You will develop and manage product development budgets, ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities.
- You will be the champion of our costing process, including margin management and cost negotiations with vendors.
- You will effectively maintain strong partnerships and communication with internal and external stakeholders at all stages of product development.
What You Bring
- You have a degree in Apparel with 4+ years hands on experience in Apparel Product Development.
- You are highly organized, detail and action oriented, with the ability to see the big picture. You have an analytical approach to problem solving.
- You have experience with knits, fittings, apparel construction, and comfort in judging print / repeat artwork / color.
- You are well versed in apparel development & communication with oversees manufacturers.
- You have knowledge of factory processes, equipment, techniques, etc.
- You have experience sourcing fabrics and trims with factory and mills.
- You are proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. Excellent proficiency in Adobe Illustrator software is a must.
- You are entrepreneurially driven with effective interpersonal, writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- You’re a “big thinker,” able to identify & resolve development issues that may arise.
- You are capable of handling multiple assignments with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- You can operate independently while establishing effective partnerships with cross-functional teams.
- You exhibit the agility to support ongoing brand innovation.
