SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our dynamic Program Management team. This role will be with Russell’s Atlanta office and will support the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Centralized Project Management Office (CMPO). Duties involve providing technical and engineering support across a range of construction projects, ensuring technical standards and specifications are met. The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and other engineering staff to plan, design, and supervise construction projects, ensuring efficient and effective execution to support MARTA’s pursuit of rehabilitating, enhancing, and expanding its $6B Capital Improvement Program.

Project Engineers play a crucial role in bridging the gap between engineering and project management, ensuring that the technical aspects of projects are executed to specification and in compliance with all relevant standards. This position is essential for maintaining the structural integrity and operational efficiency of our projects, which directly impacts the success and sustainability of our infrastructure developments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for the following key duties:
- Project Planning and Design: Assist in project planning and the development of design documents. Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure they are followed accurately.
- Technical Support and Coordination: Provide technical support to project teams and coordinate between the engineering department and other divisions.
- Supervision and Quality Control: Supervise construction processes to ensure alignment with design specifications. Monitor project progress and provide reports on timeline, budget, and quality.
- Problem Solving: Identify project challenges and develop solutions to engineering problems involving coordination, budgeting, and construction.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all project activities comply with legal and safety standards. Oversee the installation of structures and systems in compliance with construction documents and relevant regulations.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide updates and gather feedback to improve project outcomes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, or Mechanical preferred).
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in construction or engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and project management.
- Proficient with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
- Experience in sustainable construction and green building practices.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
