Requirements:
- Prepares delicious, healthy meals for Assisted living residents according to standardized recipes.
- Ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
- Receives and inspects product and supplies for quality and quantity to ensure appropriate inventory.
- Maintains the kitchen in a sanitary and efficient condition in accordance with standards set forth by the Department of Health.
- Helps select and develop recipes, menus, and schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of institutional cooking
- Able to manage/oversee the kitchen and staff.
- Knowledge of food storage and preparation
- Ability to read and understand recipes and food abbreviations.
- Basic ability to understand and follow recipe measurements and proportions.
- Ability to lift and carry large pans from ovens or freezers, weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to handle or operate dangerous kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of NY Department of health guidelines a plus

- Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean and maintain stations in practicing good safety and sanitation.
- Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment.
- Restock items as needed throughout the shift.
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes.
