Every day, more architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and owners specify Wells precast building components for their construction needs and with this continued success, we are looking to hire a motivated self-starting Project Checker to join our team. The right candidate must be a problem-solver, have strong communication skills, and also be willing and ready to learn.
General Description: The Project Checker is responsible for the quality assurance of the Model and its output on assigned projects created by the drafter throughout the drafting process, ensuring compliance with contract documents, project specifications, engineering requirements, and Wells Concrete standard operating procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Checks erection drawings for dimensional accuracy to construction documents and general conformance to specifications, application of project details, standard operating procedure, and engineering requirements.
- Checks material takeoffs for procurement, as well as production material sheets.
- Checks erection/site material sheets for conformance to design and drawings.
- Checks pour tickets for accuracy to erection drawings, formatting, and clarity.
- Coordinates with other departments as non-conformances occur to resolve the issues quickly and efficiently.
- Completes special projects as requested and performs other duties as assigned.
- Assumes role of mentorship and coaching in both indirect and direct, assigned scenarios.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Interpersonal communication skills to work in a team setting, as well as in 1-on-1 environment.
- Ability to lead, train, and coach other employees with respect and dignity.
- Capacity to interact with many people internally and externally to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and general knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and other computer software programs
- Preferred minimum of 2 years of precast experience
- General geometry and trigonometry skills
- Motivation and self-drive required to complete a task.
- Knowledge of company products and applications
- Understanding and acceptance of changes that are implemented to become best in class.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding construction documents and shop drawings.
- Ability to visualize details within the production/erection process.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
- Visual acuity and ability to read small print.
- Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment.
- Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed.
