Position Summary
Private, Post-Secondary Institution enrolling in Healthcare Programs is in search of an experienced and established Financial Aid Advisor/Senior Financial Aid Advisor to provide support and assistance to the Financial Aid Department. The Financial Aid Advisor/Senior Financial Aid Advisor administers financial aid programs to prospective and active students. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to performing a variety of duties associated with the awarding, disbursing and returning of federal, state, and other financial aid assistance programs. The Financial Aid Advisor/Senior Financial Aid Advisor reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Counseling and assisting of students, assuring that pertinent documents and information are sent or disseminated to students and assuring that each inquiry is properly evaluated;
- Follow through with any problems that arise either related to a specific student/application or with an outside agency;
- Drafting or editing documents related to FA in catalogs, reports, applications and other documents under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid;
- Planning, development, updating, and the ultimate implementation of the entire FA program under the supervision of the Director of the Financial Aid;
- Implementation, coordination or management of the distribution of FA funds, including work related to the distribution of funds before and after the distribution, which also includes student registration, accounting of the distribution of funds and related communications to students under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid;
- Compliance with the polices/guidelines of and communications to/from applicable government agency, accrediting body or source of FA;
- Ensuring that Angeles College is updated with applicable requirements by studying, attending requisite training, submitting documents, etc.;
- Maintenance of reports, files and documents, including physical files and ensuring that such maintenance is in compliance with requisite standards;
- All functions reasonably necessary to operate a FA program that complies with all applicable standards and policies of pertinent government agencies, accrediting bodies and sources of funds, as well as is compatible with the needs and operation of Angeles College.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree with a strong background in administration or a related field.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Title IV Administration training provided by the government is preferred.
- Cal Grant experience is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in all aspects of financial aid, including grants and student loans.
- Strong interpersonal, professional, organizational, and communication skills and proficient in the use of computers and various software packages, including Microsoft Office, with Department of Education software (EdConnect and EdExpress) preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Detail oriented and produces work that is accurate.
- Ability to manage sensitive, confidential issues.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
