Job Description:
As a Sous Chef / KM, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen, ensuring the smooth operation of all aspects from food preparation to kitchen management. This includes maintaining our standards for recipe adherence, cooking methods, plating, portioning, cost efficiency, and overall kitchen sanitation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Chef/General Manager (GM) to manage and grow our business by upholding operational quality, excellence, and profitability.
- Take responsibility for culinary and event & catering operations, as well as financial operations such as quality control, food cost management, and labor efficiency.
- Develop and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists to optimize kitchen efficiency.
- Engage in hiring, training, and maintaining a competent kitchen staff.
- Handle back-of-house (BOH) scheduling, time tracking, tip pooling/sharing, and timely payroll administration.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of food, beverages, and supplies.
- Uphold strong vendor relationships under the guidance of the Chef/GM.
- Resolve guest, employee, and operational issues with sound judgment and decision-making.
- Ensure the cleanliness and functionality of kitchen equipment and facilities.
- Adhere to company policies regarding conduct, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Perform all necessary BOH functions as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least 2 years of experience in a full-service restaurant as a Kitchen Manager.
- Proven supervisory experience including managing both staff and managers.
- Strong track record of maintaining high standards in cleanliness, sanitation, food quality, and guest satisfaction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficient in decision-making and analytical skills.
- Computer literate, particularly proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Current SERV Safe or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Flexibility to work different shifts including weekends, holidays, and as needed.
- Reliable transportation.
