Join Our Team as an Electrical Quality Technologist!
Are you passionate about Quality Assurance and Inspection? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to inspect S&C products such as electrical components, programming circuit boards, and verifying the operations of micro AT’s and other controls. As an Electrical Quality Technologist, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping its internal customers, S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services that the organization provides.
In this job you will be responsible for inspecting S&C product such as; electrical components, programming circuit boards, verifying the operations of micro AT’s and other controls, dielectric testing of components and testing high voltage electrical equipment that are used in the switch gear systems and the smart grid protection products. This will include using test simulators, electronic & electrical equipment, electronic measurement instrumentation, torque measuring tools, reading electrical & electronic schematic diagrams, using inspection checklist (ISP’s, PSP’s and detailed standard work), entering & retrieving data in the oracle system, saving electrical documentation in the Source One system, accessing mechanical & electrical drawings, troubleshoot to component level, basic board level programming and closing out job orders and specials.
The job responsibilities are to perform mechanical & electrical inspections to sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The requirements are for the inspector to work with assembly operations with detailed process documentation, industry standards, specifications, instruction bulletins, review mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams and complete checklist.
The inspector will also operate mechanical & electrical sub-assemblies and final assemblies by using several types of inspection equipment and selecting the proper measuring equipment such as torque wrenches, digital multi-meters, hi-pot testers, high voltage (HV) dielectric and assist with partial discharge (PD) testing.
In order to perform this specific inspection job, the inspector must have great verbal & writing communications skills such as; communicating and recording abnormal conditions on checklist, defects per unit (DPU) reports and document non-conforming material (NMR) return. All abnormal conditions must be communicated to assembly team members and production & inspection leaders. At times the inspector may need to communicate all abnormal conditions to designers and engineers in order to evaluate if the S&C product meets customer satisfaction or requires rework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record all defects on the checklist, DPU reports and non-conforming materials reports.
- Inspect and operate mechanical & electrical sub & final assemblies.
- Inspect wire terminations including crimps and maintain yearly certifications.
- Inspect several different types of electrical and electronic components.
- Perform HV dielectric testing and assist with partial discharge testing.
- Follow all safety practices and procedures (ISP’s, PSP’s and Standard Work).
- Maintain daily and monthly task in activity board including 5S, out of the box - CSP’s and DPU’s.
- Enter all defects in the Oracle quality collection plan.
- Ensure mechanical tools and electrical equipment is calibrated, valid for the test and safe to use.
- Train Assistant Electrical Quality Technologists
- Basic programming of electronic boards.
Troubleshoot on their own.

- Associates technical degree or work equivalent.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess intermediate MS Office skills (Excel Database, Word and TEAMS calendar skills).

- Able to troubleshoot to component level.
- Ability to locate and interpret drawings and other specifications on S&C’s document control system as needed.
- Able to explain defects to engineering, leadership and team members.
- Ability to articulate the nature of defects found to engineers and other stakeholders
- Able to operate digital multi-meters, micro ohm meters and torque wrenches.
- Able to interpret and inspect for ‘Special’ notes, specifications and standard work processes.
- Able to read and interpret drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), sales & job orders, & technical documents.
- Able to work independently, in a team orientated environment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced inspection environment.
- Able to setup product for preliminary inspection testing per procedure.
- Able to provide technical support for process auditors, QA engineering and leadership.
- Able to maintain accurate inspection records.
Preferred:
- Four-year technical degree or equivalent.
- Three to five years of quality assurance experience.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified or ISO 9001:2015 (E) standards certified.
- Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel and TEAMS calendar skills.
- Experience working with quality management systems.
- Mechanical skills and ability to use specialized tools.
Intermediate mechanical & electrical technical skills.
