Under the supervision of a Casualty Claims Supervisor, the Senior Casualty Claims Examiner works with policy holders, claimants, agents, subject matter experts and attorneys to manage liability exposures associated with commercial and homeowner policies.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload of complex commercial, homeowner, and general liability claims
- Investigating automobile and general liability claims when necessary
- Analyzing complex policies, lease agreements, and contracts to ensure accurate coverage interpretation and determination.
- Utilizing internal and external resources to investigate facts of loss with the purpose of accurately documenting liability and to rule out fraud.
- Prepare detailed claim reports, documenting findings, decisions, and settlement agreements in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with policyholders, claimants, attorneys, and other stakeholders to provide updates on claim status, address inquiries, and resolve issues.
- Assess the damages associated with complex claims and provide proper reserve management from the reporting of the claim to settlement.
- Monitoring vendor usage and controlling expense costs including managing defense counsel budget and weighing severity and cost to reach settlements.
Qualifications:
- 8 - 12 years of experience managing complex commercial, homeowner liability, and general liability claims with a strong understanding of coverage interpretation, insurance principles, and claims management practices.
- Extensive experience managing complex claims in litigation, managing budgets and actions to achieve favorable outcomes for all parties to the claim.
- Experience managing automobile liability claims.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Advanced Degree is a plus)
- Insurance designation (AINS, AIC, CPCU, etc.) Preferred
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Be proficient with various software products including, but not limited to Word, Excel & Outlook
