Piper Shores is Maine’s premier nonprofit continuing care retirement community. The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for scheduling the drivers for independent living residents and for assuming lead responsibilities with scheduling vehicle maintenance, driver training and in-service coordination, and related lead tasks, as well as providing concierge services to Piper Shores’ residents. Transportation Coordinator also serves as a Driver.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Schedules drivers for transportation to medical appointments, shopping, social, educational, recreational, and religious services, and assists in driving.

Prepares monthly transportation registrations, including religious and shopping transportation.

Coordinates medical transportation requests, schedules, and confirms transportation to and from appointments for residents.

Ensures that all Piper Shores’ vehicle inspections, AAA, registration, insurance, cell phones, and EZ Pass are updated at appropriate times.

Sets up and maintains Piper Shores’ ongoing vehicle usage schedule based upon requests received from various departments for day trips, outings, social functions, and other events.

Coordinates, schedules, and leads driver in-service training and annual vehicle testing.

Develops a vehicle cleaning schedule and schedules staff accordingly.

Maintains vehicles in repair and observes safety regulations and requirements.

Schedules routine preventative maintenance for the vehicles.

Performs concierge duties as required (light vehicle maintenance, delivery of residents’ packages, setup and tear-down of function rooms for events, etc.)

Maintains statistics and records of all transportation, and generates reports as requested.

Keeps records of mileage and gas purchases and submit bills to Life Enrichment Manager.

Maintains all vehicle tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition.

Prepares resident monthly billing costs and submits to Accounting for billing.

Practices safe work habits to prevent injury to self and others.

Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.

Participates in various employee committees (safety, employee activities, etc.) as assigned.

Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Life Enrichment Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school education required. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, read maps efficiently, and perform simple arithmetic.

Valid driver’s license in the State of Maine and good driving record.

Experience as a driver in a similar capacity.

Computer skills, including applications in Excel and Word.

Ability to communicate in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner with the senior population.
