PAY RANGE: $47,750-$62,291
STARTING RANGE: $47,750-$54,166
Under supervision of the Facility Manager, the Facility Specialist provides a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and support of Park District arenas,, indoor facilities, and related property grounds. The position will work primarily evenings and weekends to ensure facilities are operational, safe, and clean.

- Operate and maintain arena facilities including grounds, ice maintenance, structures, equipment, ice resurfacer, compressors, etc.

Repair building and amenities as required. Perform custodial duties as required and as assigned.

Coordinate and assign work to shift leader and part-time arena staff.

Work for Park District special events, ice shows, high school hockey, tournaments, public skating, dry floor rentals and activities, etc.

Works and performs duties without supervision or direction, plan and execute daily activities to achieve goals.

Gives awareness to Facility Manager of matters related to responsibilities.

Assist with supervision of part time employees.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with all user groups. Respond to customer complaints.

Ability to communicate ideas, recommendations, instructions and explanations clearly, orally or in writing.

Operate Ice Resurfacer and edger; perform general maintenance of ice surface and hockey boards.

Ability to operate and a variety of technical equipment such including score boards, public address video & audio equipment, power point and other technical equipment.

Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as are apparent or delegated and carry out special projects assigned by Facility Manager.
- Open & close facility on time and according to schedule.

Provide outstanding customer service by responding to all public feedback with courtesy. Answer questions/calls from patrons with knowledge as to facility operation, events and schedule.

Assist the Park District in event preparation and tear down.

Ensure schedules are up to date and correspond with the locker room assignments. Set-up for facility dryland events /hockey/daily classes.

Create and follow up on daily work list. Oversee and address complete cleanliness of facility and grounds.

Identify facility issues and improvements and report any issues or concerns to supervisor.

Perform custodial and general facility equipment maintenance duties ongoing as assigned.

Ice rink maintenance including install and teardown, cleaning, monitoring, patching, edging and daily ice care Perform routine cleaning/maintenance of boards and glass.

Ice Resurfacer Maintenance and Care - operate and maintain the mechanics of the machine, blades, oil, filters, fuel, and report any problems immediately.

Maintain the interior and exterior snow, ice, weeds and trash.

Train part time staff and identify and create work lists for part time employees.

Prepare, monitor and cleanup of party rooms/turf for birthdays check in with rentals.

Ensure safe conditions for employees and patrons; report issues and emergencies immediately.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.

Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Valid driver's license.

Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships.
Work is performed within Park District properties and job site locations that will require sitting, squatting, bending, climbing and reaching. The employee may be required to occasionally perform a full range of motion with lifting and or carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Activity may involve being in and around moving equipment. Activity is subject to weather conditions of the seasons, fumes, gasses and exposure to dust. The employee may also be exposed to hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
