Position Title: Victim Advocate
Location: Remote (Work across state lines as needed)
Job Description:
We are seeking empathetic and dedicated Victim Advocates to join our team. This role involves providing support and advocacy for individuals affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, and other crises. The Victim Advocate will assist clients in navigating the legal system, accessing necessary services, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims of domestic violence, substance abuse, and other crises.
- Assist clients in navigating the legal system, including obtaining restraining orders, attending court hearings, and understanding their legal rights.
- Help clients access necessary services, such as housing, medical care, counseling, and financial assistance.
- Develop and implement safety plans tailored to each client's needs and circumstances.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of client interactions, services provided, and advocacy efforts.
- Collaborate with other service providers, including legal advisors, counselors, housing services, and medical professionals, to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Ensure all client interactions comply with PHI (Protected Health Information) protocols and maintain client confidentiality.
- Operate across state lines, adhering to state-specific regulations and requirements.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay current with best practices in victim advocacy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the legal system and resources available to victims of domestic violence and substance abuse.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and provide support to individuals in crisis.
- Proficiency in using PHI-compliant systems and maintaining client confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work across state lines and navigate different state regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in victim advocacy or related areas.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural competencies.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
