Position Title and Summary
The Controller-Operations is responsible for ensuring accurate and consistent financial information used in decision making and assessing our business performance. This role owns internal and external reporting, providing accounting expertise for all revenue, operations and infrastructure, and balance sheet and cashflow management. This position will be a key business partner to senior management, while driving efficiency of our finance operations by implementing innovative processes and technologies, creating value for our business.
Reports to: VP, Accounting
Essential Job Duties:

Lead the timely and accurate completion of the financial close processes and financial reporting in partnership with the Controller - FSO, field accountants, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team and operations.

Partner to Area GM’s, and fleet and landfill leadership regarding implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, controls, reporting matters and continuous process improvement.

Provide U.S. GAAP technical expertise for revenue, operations, and infrastructure transactions.

Assist the FP&A team with reporting for Operations, Senior Management, our Sponsor and the Board.

Prepare for and respond to internal and external auditors in a timely basis. Oversee the development and completion of audit remediation plans.

Document processes and identify process improvements through technology and the elimination of non-value work; develop and deliver plans to design, implement and achieve the ‘One LRS’ process.

Contribute to analysis and financial integration of M&A opportunities and initiatives.

Participate in cross-functional transformation projects with clear accountability for the results.

Provide oversight and direction for field controllership activities.

Work closely with the Manager, Financial Systems through setting priorities, goals and deliverables, including strong collaboration with and leverage of LRS’s IT resources.

Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws. Has approval-level input regarding hiring, terminations, disciplinary actions, performance management, as well as, assessing the needs of the department and/or functional area.

Manages a team of direct and indirect reports in the following roles:

Manager, Accounting (2)

Manager, Financial Systems (1)

Senior Accountant (6) - indirect reports
Qualifications, Knowledge and Critical skills:
-
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP), and regulatory requirements.

Proficiency in financial systems and software.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proven track record of driving process improvements, managing change, and delivering results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently in an office environment. The noise level in an office is usually quiet. The position is required to be performed at the work site during regularly scheduled hours. Physical presence at the work site is required.
