PART A-Education
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

GS-13 Specialized Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as follows:
1. Experience creating complex structured databases of technical, engineering, or financial information.
2. Experience developing requirements for data collection systems with features that include sophisticated error detection and data validation.
3. Experience managing projects to improve the quality of data collection programs.
4. Experience developing reports and formulating data-driven policy recommendations.
5. Experience using SAS, R, SQL, Python, or similar applications to build data models, conduct statistical analyses, and create visualizations
GS-14
GS-14 Specialized Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as follows:
1. Experience creating complex structured databases of technical, engineering, or financial information.
2. Experience developing requirements for data collection systems with features that include sophisticated error detection and data validation.
3. Experience formulating recommendations for adoption of software applications
4. Experience managing projects to improve the quality of information products across agency data collection programs.
5. Experience developing reports and formulating data-driven policy recommendations.
6. Experience using SAS, R, SQL, Python, or similar applications to build data models, conduct statistical analyses, and create visualizations.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
You will be evaluated for this position on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs):
1) Knowledge of advanced analytical, economic, and/or statistical theories, principles, concepts, methods, and techniques needed to support making data driven decisions.
2) Skill using statistical software packages to the analysis of "Big Data" or other unstructured data sets.
3) Skill keeping management informed of progress including anomalies in findings or impediments to completion of the assignment in a timely manner which they are unable to resolve on their own.
4.) Skill in oral and written communications.
5.) Ability to make recommendations and actively involved in the decision-making processes that involve determining the most effective approach to be applied including the most appropriate analytic tools such as complex statistical programming technologies or other business intelligence tools.
