As a purchasing assistant you will assist the purchasing manager with sourcing equipment, goods, and services, and managing vendors. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects and assignments at the same time.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the purchasing process including buying, selling and distribution
- Assist in reviewing new project proposals for the company
- Conduct regular purchase order reviews, and follow up on outstanding items
- Identify ideal suppliers based on quality, cost and reliability
- Interface with other departments on product needs
- Support property managers with warranty process as needed
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging and forecasting inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year
- Other duties as assigned/needed
Requirements
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Purchasing or inventory experience preferred
- Strong customer service and follow-up skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with MS Excel necessary
- Proficiency or experience with inventory management systems preferred (we use Fishbowl)
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management preferred
- Good networking skills
- Strong teamworking skills
