Job Description: Controller

We are seeking a Controller who will be responsible for all finance and accounting matters of the organization. As the right hand to the CEO, the Controller must develop a deep understanding of the business operations to spearhead operational excellence through understanding the pushes and pulls of the Order Entry and Accounting departments. The Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day cash flow of the organization, including receivables, payables, projections, budgets, and financial statement preparation. The Controller will provide oversight and management of the Company’s profitability and ensure accuracy of the company's online catalogue. They will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the payments terms as set forth in the contract, timely reporting, and collection of information for and compliance with payroll, state, local and federal tax matters.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Serves as a face and voice of Academy Medical to our supplier partners and the federal government while ensuring the organization embraces its Mission and Vision statements and embodies the tenets of its Core Values.
- Manages and oversees all Accounting, Contracts, Customer Service, and IT/IS functions of Academy Medical.
- Improves efficiency of month-end procedures; establishes internal accounting controls; documents all accounting procedures.
- Prepares financial reports as requested by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Prepares annual budget by working closely with the CEO, VP and other key stakeholders to forecast revenue projections and cost trends.
- Oversees Order Entry and Customer Service to ensure accurate, efficient, professional and timely execution of inquiries initiated by our external customers and partners, and acts an escalation path in resolving all issues concerning customer service.
- Attend annual Shareholder meetings and will be available at all meetings of the Board of Directors.
- Assists external auditors in preparing year-end tax and financial review.
- Serves as the lead coordinator with Academy’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. MSA or MBA preferred.
- Five years’ supervisory experience over an accounting staff, call-center and multidisciplined matrixed operation.
- Expert proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise and MS office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience building financial models to include company pricing analysis.
- Experience with multi-vendor distribution businesses.
- Experience managing a matrixed organization with 10 – 20 employees.
Compensation Range
- Base Salary Range - $90,000-$150,000
