General Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Shop Manager you will perform tasks pertaining to the mechanic shop ensuring the preventative maintenance and repairs on the tractor/ trailers, small engines, heavy & light vehicles in our fleet are performed correctly. You need to be highly motivated and work to maintain mutual respect and professionalism with co-workers and sustain a positive team environment. Must be honest, ambitious, hard working, take pride in your work, have great attention to detail and above all have personal & professional integrity. Needs to insure things are done accurately and efficiently as well as confirming all policies have been followed.
Diesel Mechanic Job Duties
Ø Assist Shop Manager in day to day operations while continuing to effectively work on equipment as needed.
Ø Communicate effectively with Shop Manager on repair/service time estimates, troubleshooting and status updates.
Ø Diagnoses mechanical failures and repair heavy & small engine equipment and truck components according to their manufacturer specifications.
Ø Perform preventative maintenance based on pre-defined schedules.
Ø Diagnose & repair excavation equipment such as Komatsu, CAT, John Deere, Kubota, & Bobcat.
Ø Diagnose and repair small engine equipment such as mowers, Billy Goats, brush cutters, & weed eaters.
Ø Knowledge on all phases of repairs: brakes, suspension, electrical including shorts and open circuits, steering problems, drive train components, cooling system, charging systems. Etc.
Ø Welding and cutting experience would be helpful.
Ø Knowledge and ability to use specialized tools used by a variety of engine manufacturers.
Ø Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in reliable working order
Ø Report defects, or damage on the vehicles and equipment
Ø Ability to perform a heavy volume of repairs and can work unsupervised
Ø Utilizes parts diagrams and other resources to research problems,
Ø Interprets repair orders and technical manuals
Other Job Duties & Qualifications
Ø Must have at least 3 years mechanical industry experience &/ or trade school certificates
Ø Have a valid CDL Class A Driver License
Ø Must have own tools
Ø Uniforms are provided and need to be turned in weekly to be laundered
Ø Keep accurate time card records.
Ø Assists in other duties as requested by the Shop Manager, Manager of Operation, and President.
