GDIT is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to support the Operations and Engineering Branch at the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID.) In this role, you will help teams develop and implement new solutions, as well as maintain NIAID's IT infrastructure.

HOW A SENIOR TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Working with a Team Lead to organize and shepherd a team's work (i.e. project and non-ticket related operational work)

Leading multiple projects of various sizes and levels of complexity, using various project management methodologies, such as Waterfall, Kanban, Scrum, or hybrid

Leading a matrixed project team from 3 - 20 people

Collaborating with clients to define and document IT project scope, priority, budgets and schedules, as well as oversee implementation of projects

Working with teams to identify dependencies, risks, and blockers
-
Providing timely communication on project status, issues, risks, blockers, opportunities, and achievements
-
Representing projects during internal and customer-facing reviews

Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation using Microsoft Project, MS Teams, Trello, Wrike, Excel, ServiceNow and other standard technical management tools

Serving as a champion for PMO standards for managing work (portfolio management)

Establishing and ensuring team is using work management tools in accordance with PMO standards

Working with the PMO to assess and determine project management methodology to apply to work

When appropriate, forging a trusted relationship with the Agile Coach and Team Lead to implement a robust execution of an Agile Transformation

Facilitating Agile ceremonies (as needed) including stand ups, planning and backlog grooming meetings, retrospectives, etc.

Communicating with all levels of management, technical team members, and user community

Keeping up-to-date on industry trends and innovations and identifying opportunities to improve existing processes
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline (or equivalent)
Required Experience: Minimum of eight years of related experience
Required Technical Skills:

Minimum of three years of Project Management experience, including managing scope, risk, and schedule in an IT environment

Experience with IT infrastructure, including networks, storage, and Cloud
Security Clearance Level: Ability to obtain an NIH Public Trust Clearance
Required Skills and Abilities:

Familiarity with Waterfall Project Management and Agile Project Management and methodologies (including Kanban and Scrum)

Experience with project management tools, such as MS Project and/or Trello, ServiceNow, or Wrike
-
Excellent leadership and negotiation skills to manage projects

Ability to manage large or multiple projects with changing priorities
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations to various audiences

Expertise with MS Office tools

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Self-motivated, organized, and process oriented

Ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks

Location: Primarily remote , but will need to come onsite once a month for PMO team meeting and as needed for other meetings. Therefore you must reside within commuting distance to 5601 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD or be able to travel at your own expense to the office as needed to meet contractual obligations and project needs.

Salary and Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $101,566 - $134,895. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
