Litigation Associate Job Summary
Our client, an AMLAW200 law firm is seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Litigation Associate to join our Complex Commercial Litigation team in Houston. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in handling complex commercial litigation matters, excellent analytical skills, and a dedication to providing top-tier client service.
Litigation Associate Responsibilities
- Case Management:
- Independently manage a diverse caseload of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution, including pre-trial, trial, and appellate work.
- Research & Analysis:
- Conduct thorough legal research, analyze intricate legal issues, and draft high-quality memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Discovery:
- Oversee all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, taking and defending depositions, and managing electronic discovery.
- Court Appearances:
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Client Interaction:
- Maintain proactive communication with clients, provide strategic advice, and develop strong relationships to understand and meet their legal needs.
- Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with partners, senior associates, and other team members to develop case strategies and execute effective legal tactics.
- Business Development:
- Participate in business development initiatives, including attending networking events, writing articles, and contributing to client pitches.
Litigation Associate Position Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- 3-5 years of experience in complex commercial litigation at a reputable law firm.
- Active member in good standing of the Texas State Bar.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills; strong oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and familiarity with electronic discovery platforms.
