We are seeking a full-time Insurance Specialist to join our Central Business Office.
Normal working hours are Monday- Friday 8:00-4:30. However, hours could vary based on the needs of the department/clinic.
Salary is based on experience.
Full-time positions are eligible for full benefits, including insurance, 148 PTO hours per year, 56 hours of paid Holidays per year including the day after Thanksgiving, and an Employee Retirement Plan (401K) with employer match. Tuition reimbursement and a grow our own Medical Assistant Program.
Handles telephone inquiries regarding insurance issues.
Works daily correspondence from patients and insurance companies and handles inquiries appropriately and in a timely manner.
Processes denials from insurance companies as appropriate according to coding and specific insurance policies and procedures.
Processes aging reports according to established Central Business Office guidelines and maintain current report.
Remains current with assigned insurance company publications and is knowledgeable regarding policies, procedures and coding guidelines for insurance company/network for which the representative is responsible.
Research and handle insurance credit balances according to company and insurance procedures.
Functions as a backup for other personnel in the office as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Associate degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum two years of medical office practices to include working knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding
Background in medical insurance billing preferred
Certification/License:
N/A
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices; basic medical coding; insurance agency operating procedures and practices.
Skill with computer applications.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers and management.
Must be able to work effectively as a team member.
