Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and manage a highly skilled group of Electrical and Power electronic engineers.
The Engineer will work on designing and testing advanced power electronics and control systems, using specialized digital and programmable technologies to improve performance and efficiency. More specifically, a qualified technical lead candidate will be involved in:
- Providing technical leadership to the EE team through the following:
- Design and testing of SiC-based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives
- Detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware
- Optimizing embedded control algorithms, harmonic compensators, software PLLs, etc.
- Develop Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop and Power-Hardware-in-the-loop test setups
- Creation, review, and issuance of prototype and production-level electrical drawings and schematics
- Leadership and/or managerial experience with a focus on the following:
- Leading a team of 4-10 engineers through research and product development phases
- Providing technical leadership while also pushing the team to meet customer requirements, schedules, and budgets
- Autonomy to hire new team members and write proposals/bring in new work
- Write and/or review EE-focused patents, whitepapers, and technical conference/journal articles
- Mentoring of junior and other senior engineers
- Work with other technical leads and the SVP Engineering to determine the technical and strategic direction of the power system group
Minimum Requirements:
- United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
- BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or related major required, with a minimum 3.3 GPA,
- MS and PhDs a plus
- Senior - 12+ years experience
The following experience is not required, but highly desirable:
- Medium voltage power distribution and design of solid-state-transformers
- High-speed gigabit communications development with high-performance FPGAs
- Hands-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon, PLECS RT Box, or other HIL platforms
The following experience is not required, but highly desirable:
- Designing and/or controlling motor drives, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters
- High-speed communications development with high-performance FPGAs
- Experience programming various microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
- Direct work with TI C2000 DSPs and Altera FPGAs
- Hands-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon, PLECS RT Box, or other HIL platforms
Immediate Requirements/Projects include:
- High Power SiC and Silicon power device design into converters/inverters
- MV Isolated DC-DC converters
- FPGA and DSP development of AC-DC and DC-DC control algorithms
- Power levels 50kW to 500kW converters that are linked together for higher power levels up in MWs
- Typhoon and PLECS Controller-Hardware-in-the-loop development of a modular multi-level converter
- and real-time model implementations

Pay: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
