EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Some machine operating experience preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting up to forty (40) pounds on occasion, thirty-five (35) pounds on a more consistent basis. Stand for eight hours a day, including climbing stairs, bending, stretching and twisting. Ability to work in smaller spaces. Perform repetitive work. Must be at least 18 years of age to run machinery.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Basic writing, reading and math skills are required to fill out paperwork. Ability to perform quality control on material by determining if said material falls within acceptable parameters and follows issued work orders. Defective product material should be identified and reported to area Supervisor. Machine operators should be able to work as a team with the Material Cutter/ Packagers in their areas, and possess problem solving skills. Basic mechanic skills are preferred. Ability to comprehend and comply with the Quality Manual, Food Safety Standards, Floor Manual and Handbook are a must.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Machine Operators are often cross trained to run multiple different machines in the facility. Their duties are to run the machinery assigned, have knowledge of any necessary safety switches, proper loading and unloading techniques and be a team player with the others in their area. Machine Operators are responsible for keeping accurate production usage sheets and production counts for their shift. They must be able to communicate with the area supervisor and warehouse personnel. Other duties include filling out proper inspection paperwork and comparing material to work orders and product tolerances to determine if any defective product exists. All employees are required to perform light janitorial work in their area, such as cleaning before, during and after operation to keep our facility to food service packaging standards. Each work area has posted the machine specific Standard Sanitation Operational Procedures (SSOP). An active working knowledge of our Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is required.
