The Human Resource Assistant is a vital member of the Business Office team, working year-round with the Human Resource Manager, to deliver an excellent professional experience for all Berkeley employees.
The Human Resource Assistant will have the opportunity to learn and grow within a dynamic and fast-paced independent school environment. They will assist with various Human Resource (HR) functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and payroll.
The ideal candidate will be professional at all times, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. They will have a strong interest in HR and a desire to learn and grow in the field. This position offers a great foundation for a career in HR and the opportunity to work with a knowledgeable, supportive and collaborative team.
- Maintain employee records with specific emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality
- Lead the recruitment process by posting job listings, supporting a search committee, and communicating with prospective candidates
- Support the onboarding process for new full-time and part-time employees, including the verification of I-9 materials, background screening verification, and coordination with various departments
- Provide excellent customer service; serving employees with accurate information, alternative resources, and individual assistance
- Assist with the processing of bi-monthly payroll
- Other duties as assigned or required
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, Spanish speaking would be desirable
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Detail-oriented with strong organization skills and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with salary and full benefits. The compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and the national independent school and college markets.
