Position Overview:
The Volunteer & Mentor Engagement Manager is responsible for the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers and mentors who support CPNYC's programs and initiatives. This role involves creating meaningful engagement opportunities, managing relationships with volunteers and mentors, and ensuring that all activities align with CPNYC’s mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Volunteer & Mentor Recruitment:
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers and mentors from diverse backgrounds.
- Conduct outreach activities to attract potential volunteers and mentors through community events, partnerships, and digital platforms.
- Training and Development:
- Design and facilitate comprehensive training programs for volunteers and mentors to prepare them for their roles.
- Provide ongoing development opportunities and support to enhance volunteer and mentor engagement and effectiveness.
- Engagement and Retention:
- Build relationships with scholars by creating and facilitating team building activities to better understand their needs.
- Create and manage engagement activities and events to foster a strong sense of community among volunteers and mentors.
- Develop and implement retention strategies to maintain a high level of volunteer and mentor satisfaction and commitment.
- Program Coordination:
- Match volunteers and mentors with appropriate opportunities and mentees based on their skills, interests, and availability.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer and mentor programs, adjusting as needed.
- Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, mentors, and community partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers and mentors, addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer and mentor participation, including hours contributed and feedback.
- Prepare reports on volunteer and mentor activities, outcomes, and impact.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in volunteer management, mentoring programs, or a related field. Experience in a non-profit setting is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Salesforce volunteer management software.

Work Environment:
- This position requires working from CPNYC’s Brooklyn and Bronx locations.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary to accommodate volunteer and mentor schedules and organizational events.
Compensation:
Commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 per annum.
