The primary role of the Quality Engineer II is to provide technical support for the fabrics manufacturing operation located in Appleton. WI. In addition, this position will be the primary resource for customer inquiries and supplier contact.
:
- Provide daily quality and technical assistance, investigation and decision making to the manufacturing operation.
- Primary contact for communicating with customers and handling customer inquiries. This includes:
- Investigating and documenting customer complaints.
- Investigating and documenting customer claims.
- Providing summary information on complaints / claims to the manufacturing operation.
- Driving corrective action assignments/teams for systemic complaints / claims.
- Works closely with Design & Applications team on customer complaints / claims and scrap.
- Manage supplier certificate of analysis and performance communication, documentation, and corrective action (SCAR log).
- Lead operational excellence (OPEX) projects on process optimization, cost reduction and material changes.
- Support the implementation and consolidation of packaging specifications required by customers.
- Actively participate in behavioral based safety programs and employee engagement.
- Support the archiving and evaluation of manufacturing data systems.
- Member of the Integrated Management System (IMS) audit team.
- Manage scrap non-conformance investigation forms (SNIF’s) log.
- This position is part of a 24 hour quality hot line to provide infrequent, but necessary, guidance to the press fabric operation supervisors after hours.
- Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements.
- Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team and production personnel.
- Business knowledge of cost/benefit analysis, project management and planning.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing environment and around equipment.
- Ability to facilitate and drive the resolution of complex problems.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write and orally present technical information.
- Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
- Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
- Exposure to Six Sigma training and Minitab preferred.
- Basic understanding of lean principles and design of experiment.
- Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering/science curriculum.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an engineering or science field. Individuals with less experience may be considered.

- Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds at times
