ESTIMATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
A. Daily Job Duties
§ Be responsible for all aspects of estimating complex and large-scale projects, including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations, and staying abreast of industry developments applicable to estimating.
§ Support our team in developing the initial project execution and logistics plans and the project schedule.
§ Assisting with the procurement of major equipment, materials and subcontracts on successful pursuits.
§ Develop full-scope cost estimates based on proposal documents for a variety of projects.
§ Identify, solicit, and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals.
§ Interpret and analyze project drawings and specifications, proposals, and other documents.
§ Manage cost comparison process.
§ Perform research for means and methods, materials, equipment, costs, and construction techniques and services to increase competitiveness.
§ Lead constructability reviews.
§ Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish a value for the work.
§ Properly complete project transition, including turning over bid documents and sub-buyout information to procurement, reviewing documents with the project management team, and participating in project kick-off meetings.
§ Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing.
§ Record cost metric information and maintain estimating databases. Support data analysis initiatives.
§ Responsible for the accurate, detailed take-off of quantities from project drawings and specifications.
§ Seek and qualify new subcontractors and build long-term relationships with subcontractors for successful partnerships.
§ Build relationships to understand client, designer, and subcontractor needs and expectations.
§ Work with the project management and procurement teams to follow up on bids and budgets to close the deal.
§ Manage and develop any assistant estimators.
§ Participate in business development activities, marketing activities, presentations for prospective clients, and interviews for jobs.
Visits to various sites around New England may be required. Must be able to climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Must have close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; be exposed to moving mechanical parts; mobile and stationary cranes; elevated structures; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.

B. Education
§ Four-year college degree with at least three years of formal engineering, architectural, construction management, business, and finance training or at least three years of building construction experience required.
C. Minimum Related Prior Experience
§ 3-5 years of prior experience in the construction industry.
§ Preferred estimating for complex life science and healthcare projects, but not required.
D. Preferred Special Skills
§ Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
§ Demonstrate management know-how, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
§ Proficient in collecting and analyzing data
§ Knowledge of:
§ Procore Construction Manager software and Microsoft Project scheduling are desirable.
§ Microsoft Office products [Word, Excel, PowerPoint], AutoCAD, BlueBeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar.
§ Basic accounting, cost control procedures, and cost-based risk analysis.
§ Must be able to manage multiple tasks, be able to meet a critical deadlines, and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
§ Must be professional and polished in appearance.
§ Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
