Fleet/Operations Manager
Job Summary:The Fleet/Operations Manager position requires work in a fast-paced environment managing shop and mechanics who maintain vehicle and equipment repairs and maintenance as well as organizing resources (personnel and assets) for various project work needs. This position requires high proficiency in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment such as trailers, skid steers, zero turn and walk behind mowers, edgers, weed eaters, blowers, as well as non-powered equipment such as trailers, etc. An ideal candidate should possess the ability to diagnose various mechanical issues for maximum reliability and functionality. This position demands excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:
· Always take a safety-first approach.
· Must have a strong background in shop management.
· Manage relationships with vendors.
· Must have management experience and the ability to supervise multiple shop locations and fleet that is spread out over Florida.
· Must have good organizational skills and ability to collaborate with management to ensure company resources are available and functioning for work needs and work schedule.
· Ability to create and maintain repair/maintenance schedules for fleet
· Ability to create and maintain asset records per FMCSA guidelines.
· Keep accurate and up to date logs on work and issues.
· Adjust to timelines and workloads.
· Train employees in the care of vehicles and equipment.
· Be aware of potential issues for future tasks and notify supervisor if it cannot be easily corrected.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills
Required:
· Proven experience as an auto mechanic.
· Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc.
· Excellent physical condition.
· High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Position requires successful completion of a company approved training program.
· Ability to calculate basic math.
· Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as needed to meet goals.
· Ability to work more than 8-hours per day if needed to meet goals.
· Possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age.
· Ability to pass a seven-year criminal background check.
· Ability to pass substance abuse testing.
· Ability to pass seven-year motor vehicle report and meet eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier.
Associated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
· Ability to read and understand product labels accurately to ensure that they are properly applied, stored, and disposed of in compliance with State and Federal laws.
· Ability to establish strong internal and external relationships.
· Ability to work with limited supervision and complete all vehicle and equipment maintenance in a timely manner to minimize downtime of vehicle and equipment.
